About Us

Who We Are

Welcome to Oakland Church of Christ, a loving and vibrant family dedicated to sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ. Established in 1935 as Strathmoor Church of Christ in Detroit, our journey has been marked by growth, service, and unity. In 1985, the merger of two congregations in Southfield created the strong, diverse community we are today.

Now located at 23333 West 10 Mile Road in Southfield, Michigan, our church home features a welcoming 400-seat sanctuary, classrooms for discipleship, and a family life hall, all designed to foster connection and spiritual growth. With an average Sunday attendance of over 300, we are a thriving congregation led by Minister Edward Cribbs since 2013.

Oakland Church of Christ blends a respect for our conservative roots with a focus on meeting the needs of today’s world. We actively engage in service, fellowship, and mission work, including a cherished partnership with Nhowe Mission in Zimbabwe.

We invite you to join us as we grow in faith, build connections, and make an impact for Christ.

To see others through the eyes of God.

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs are based solely on the Bible as the inspired Word of God. We aim to live according to its teachings, focusing on the simplicity and truth found in the New Testament church.

Built on a Solid Rock

‘...and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.’ – Matthew 16:18. We take comfort and strength in this promise, as we work to be a faithful and obedient church according to God’s Word.
